Zimbabwe Casinos

[ English ]

The prospect of living in Zimbabwe is something of a gamble at the moment, so you may think that there would be little appetite for patronizing Zimbabwe’s casinos. In reality, it appears to be functioning the opposite way around, with the critical market circumstances leading to a larger eagerness to play, to try and find a fast win, a way from the problems.

For nearly all of the locals surviving on the meager nearby wages, there are two popular types of wagering, the state lotto and Zimbet. As with practically everywhere else on the planet, there is a national lotto where the odds of profiting are remarkably low, but then the jackpots are also extremely big. It’s been said by financial experts who look at the situation that many do not buy a ticket with a real expectation of winning. Zimbet is built on one of the national or the British soccer leagues and involves determining the outcomes of future games.

Zimbabwe’s gambling dens, on the other foot, look after the astonishingly rich of the society and travelers. Until recently, there was a considerably substantial vacationing industry, centered on safaris and visits to Victoria Falls. The economic collapse and associated bloodshed have carved into this trade.

Amongst Zimbabwe’s casinos, there are 2 in the capital, Harare, the Carribea Bay Resort and Casino, which has 5 gaming tables and slots, and the Plumtree Casino, which has just the slots. The Zambesi Valley Hotel and Entertainment Center in Kariba also has just slots. Mutare contains the Monclair Hotel and Casino and the Leopard Rock Hotel and Casino, both of which offer gaming tables, one armed bandits and video poker machines, and Victoria Falls houses the Elephant Hills Hotel and Casino and the Makasa Sun Hotel and Casino, the two of which offer slot machines and table games.

In addition to Zimbabwe’s casinos and the aforementioned alluded to lottery and Zimbet (which is quite like a parimutuel betting system), there are a total of two horse racing tracks in the country: the Matabeleland Turf Club in Bulawayo (the 2nd metropolis) and the Borrowdale Park in Harare.

Since the market has shrunk by beyond 40% in recent years and with the associated poverty and conflict that has arisen, it is not known how healthy the vacationing business which is the foundation for Zimbabwe’s gambling dens will do in the near future. How many of the casinos will still be around till things improve is merely unknown.
