Mozambique Casinos

[ English | Deutsch | Español | Français | Italiano ]

The relative lack in the numbers of, Mozambique’s casinos is in one sense considerably uncertain, in one way or another.

In years gone by, the country was a region where lots of South Africans would travel to to escape from the exceptionally confining regulations on gaming (and, it has to be said, mixing with other races) that they had at home. Hence, you can anticipate somewhat of a thriving business to cater to that tourist business.

But, maybe it isn’t really an astonishment. The nation is truly the most destitute over the world, having gone through a frightening civil war (followed by catastrophic floods) from which it is still, very slowly, recovering. This is liable to make a spot lesser of a vacation location, although there is today a inviting display along a couple of the territory’s outstanding beaches.

It is also accurate that regionally at a minimum, casinos in Mozambique have had to cross with casinos in the recently liberalized South Africa, inclusive of the notable Sun City founded by the Kerzner family corporation.

Here’s a list of Mozambique’s casinos:

Maputo: Polana Casino Hotel

There are seventy-eight slot machines as well as video poker games, 5 tables of American roulette, 4 blackjack tables, along with 1 poker table.

Namaacha: Sol Libombos Hotel Casino

There are 40 slot machines, American roulette, and also 2 tables for poker and punto banco.

It is thought that over time the whole tourism industry in Mozambique will flourish conclusively. While the local languages are, evidently, African, there is as well the fraction of Portuguese from the old colonial power and the current and developing origin of English, both from South Africa and as part of the world-wide phenomenon. The country is quite cheap (clearly, as it is really poor) and as above, has some of the most outstanding beaches world wide, fronting onto the Indian Ocean. Those are the types of features that make tourism agents drool, and as the country ascends out of its arrived at slump, it is likely that not only will tourism develop, but that the list of Mozambique’s casinos will grow longer for sure.

While the country is unlikely to ever reinstate its distinction as a focal point for partying South Africans, as there are now other picks closer to home for them to oblige in, the development of a long distance tourism sector is being planned. This would be to cater to Europeans hopeful for winter sun, as an escape from the dullness of the Northern Hemisphere winter. In addition, evidently, the best prawns (shrimp) on the planet come from just offshore, in the Mozambique Channel.
